FLUID4ENGINEERING

FLUID4ENGINEERING can support Designers, Naval Architects and Industries with CFD solutions and design optimization derived from America’s Cup and Volvo Ocean Race Technologies.

FLUID4ENGINEERING is a company specialized in fluid dynamics, design and optimization. Professionals who collaborate in F4E have more than 10 years of experience in the field of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) with a specialization in marine and aerospace industries. F4E team members have done CFD consultancies to special racing sailing yacht projects such as:

35th AMERICA’s CUP

CFD hydro/aero simulations for the new era of America’s Cup foiling catamarans (multi hulls).

VOLVO OCEAN RACE 2011-2012

CFD hydrodynamic simulations for a new design VOR70 in Volvo Ocean Race 2011-2012

Little America’s Cup 2013

CFD hydrodynamic simulations for a custom design C-Class

KITEFOIL – IKA 2020-2024

Design and CFD performances for a new kitefoil IKA approved eligible for Olympic Games Paris 2024

F4E has a widely extended portfolio with projects done in different fields of the marine industry, with special focus on CFD hydrodynamic tests on motor yachts from 15 meters up to 180 meters, from large ships with low cruising speeds to small craft with cruise speed peaks of 60 knots and hulls with special devices for resistance reduction and forced ventilation. F4E staff takes care also of the custom design driven by CFD for special issues related the naval architecture of motor and sailing yachts. In the aerospace industry, F4E did special CFD consultancies for the design of Wing e Winglets per ULM airplane, Winglets per World Champion 2015 glider in FAI 13.5 metre Class, New wing design per 18m glider.

At F4E workstations up to 16 cores are used by the staff for basic CAD and CFD. A dedicated in-house HPC is available for production CFD simulations. For custom high-ended projects where the computational request does not prove to be sufficient, F4E is supported by an external computing center for additional computational resources. For each project the F4E team is using the best technology and the best tools in relation to the Customer demands.

Services

F4E methods and tools cover a large variety of physics like free-surface flow, turbulence, dynamic interaction, mixing and gases dispersion. In-house custom methods are used and in continuos development for hydrofoils design and optimization.
